Crown/Veneer Care
Congratulations on your new dental crown! To ensure optimal longevity and comfort, please follow these recommendations:
Initial Post-Operative Care:
• Any gum sensitivity, tenderness, or soreness should resolve within a few days.
• Refrain from eating or drinking for one hour after the crown is cemented.
• Avoid hard or sticky foods for a minimum of 72 hours until the cement has fully set.
Post-Operative Discomfort:
• Your new crown may feel tight or press against adjacent teeth for several days. This discomfort will gradually subside.
• The bite may experience a slight adjustment for a few days. However, if the bite persists as uneven or causes discomfort even after one week, please contact our office promptly.
Differences in the Crown:
The new crown may have a slightly different contour and texture compared to the original tooth. This difference is often magnified by the tongue, but it will become familiar within a few days.
Oral Hygiene:
Maintain twice-daily brushing and once-daily flossing to prevent gum disease around the new crown. Flossing is particularly crucial for preserving the health of the crown.
Crown Dislodgment:
Crown dislodgment is a common occurrence. If this happens, please report to the dental office within one to two days for recementation. If you are out of town, seek the assistance of any nearest dentist for re-cementation. Re-cementation charges will apply after one year.
Follow-ups:
Mandatory Dental Care
Regular dental care is essential for maintaining oral health. To ensure your long-term well-being, we recommend scheduling a mandatory dental cleaning and follow-up examination every six months. These appointments are complimentary and serve as an opportunity for your dentist to identify any potential complications or oral-related issues that may arise after a more extensive dental procedure.
Important Note:
Please be advised that mandatory office visits are required every six months for regular follow-ups.
Request for a mandatory check-up within 72 hours of treatment completion is mandatory.
